----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MDaemon GroupWare v1.X Release Notes ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------- GroupWare v1.07 - August 10, 2004 --------------------------------- SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ---------------------- o None MAJOR NEW FEATURES ------------------ o None CHANGES AND ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES ----------------------------------- o Improved reliability. Safeguards have been implemented to prevent IMAP folders from being deleted when they cannot be opened by Outlook (due to a connectivity problem with a remote PST file, for example), and to prevent data loss from a user's default set of folders if they are not found on the IMAP server. FIXES ----- o None ----------------------------- GroupWare v1.06 - May 4, 2004 ----------------------------- SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ---------------------- o None MAJOR NEW FEATURES ------------------ o None CHANGES AND ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES ----------------------------------- o The GroupWare Plugin's Sync Manager window now allows multiple items to be selected and canceled at once. o The GroupWare Plugin now logs when it's deleting items from MDaemon. o The Sync Manager window does not restore itself from the system tray when Outlook shuts down and folders are still synchronizing. FIXES ----- o fix to GroupWare Plugin adding a folder to the synchronization list when it's already listed, when leaving a folder set to synchronize when leaving o fix to GroupWare Plugin deleting unauthorized changes to a folder rather than moving them to Deleted Items o fix to folder name corruption with names containing the '&' character o fix to crash when shutting down Outlook for auto-update when there are folders set to synchronize at startup and exit ------------------------------- GroupWare v1.05 - March 2, 2004 ------------------------------- MAJOR NEW FEATURES ------------------ o The GroupWare Plugin's folder synchronization options have been improved. There is a new option to synchronize a folder after leaving the folder. It is now also possible to enable or disable each folder synchronization option individually rather than needing to choose only one. o The GroupWare Plugin supports the concept of 'private' items. Private items are only shown to users who have Admin permission to the folder. To non-admin users, private appointments are shown as '', and other private items are not shown at all. If a non-admin user tries to create a private item, it will be changed to be not private before uploading it. If a non-admin user tries to change or delete a private appointment, the original will be re- downloaded from the server. When a user's admin permission to a folder changes, private items will be re-downloaded so they'll be shown or hidden according to the new admin status. NOTE: This will only affect new or changed items that are downloaded from the server. Existing private items that are already in sync will not be changed or removed. CHANGES AND ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES ----------------------------------- o The GroupWare Plugin now writes to a recovery log so it can restore lost synchronization history information after Outlook crashes or is killed while a synchronization is in progress. This should prevent the Plugin from inadvertently deleting items from Outlook or duplicating items on the server. o The GroupWare installer will ask whether you want to create a set of GroupWare folders for each of your MDaemon domains. o The GroupWare installer asks whether MDaemon should send email messages to your users with a link to download the GroupWare Plugin installer (requires MDaemon 7.0 or newer). o The GroupWare Plugin's logging has been improved. When starting up, it will append to the MDGroupWare.log rather than overwrite it. If the log file is larger than 512KB it is moved to MDGroupWare.old. Log lines now include the date and time. o When the GroupWare Plugin is installed it will remove itself from Outlook 2002 or 2003's Disabled Items list if it's there. o To better support multi-user machines, the GroupWare Plugin writes its log file (MDGroupWare.log) to the user's profile directory rather than the "Program Files" GroupWare directory. o The GroupWare Plugin's "Ping Server" button has been changed to be "Test Connection". FIXES ----- o Fix to GroupWare Plugin not displaying an IMAP error when opening a folder, leading to incorrect "Bad state for UID" error messages. o Fix to the GroupWare Plugin's auto-updater always being triggered when the server doesn't know what version of GroupWare is installed. o Fix to the GroupWare Plugin not recognizing when a folder has been recreated on the server. Now when this happens it will replace the items in Outlook with what's on the server. o Fix to errors when using the GroupWare Plugin with folders that have international characters in their names. o Fix to the GroupWare Plugin not recognizing when a folder has been recreated on the server. Now when this happens it will replace the items in Outlook with what's on the server. ------------------------------- GroupWare v1.04 - June 10, 2003 ------------------------------- SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ---------------------- o none MAJOR NEW FEATURES ------------------ o none CHANGES AND ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES ----------------------------------- o The client machine no longer needs to trust the server's certificate for the GroupWare Plugin to use SSL o Messages that the plugin removes from Outlook are now totally removed from Outlook, not just moved to Deleted Items. o To make it easier to find new and changed tasks, all tasks downloaded from the server are now flagged as Unread. o To avoid never-ending "Could not rename folder" errors, if the plugin tries to rename a folder on the server and it fails, the plugin will not try to rename it again. MDaemon 6.75 or higher is recommended in order to get full GroupWare support. o To begin using GroupWare with Microsoft Outlook your users need to install the MDaemon GroupWare Plug-in software. An installer for this has been placed here: \MDaemon\WorldClient\Html\OutlookPluginInstall.exe Your users can also download and install this file from within WorldClient by navigating to their WorldClient Options page. A link to this installer will be available. o MDaemon GroupWare works only with non-mail Outlook folders. Outlook folders containing mail items can be shared with other users using the IMAP protocol. Non-mail folders are shared with other users by first synchronizing their content with the MDaemon mail server and then pro- viding that content to other authorized Outlook users. MAJOR NEW FEATURES ------------------ * FOLDER SHARING * MDaemon GroupWare allows the Outlook user to share his/her non-mail folders with other Outlook users in a permissions based manner. The user can decide who may have access to each folder and what level of access they may have. * AUTOMATIC UPDATING * The GroupWare plugin has the ability to automatically update itself when an administrator installs a newer version of MDaemon GroupWare on the server.
