Thank you! ----------------------------- LDaemon v2.1.0 - May 20, 2003 ----------------------------- SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ---------------------- o None MAJOR NEW FEATURES ------------------ o None CHANGES AND ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES ----------------------------------- o Several small database and configuration file changes were necessary to support to the remote account verification feature available with MDaemon 6.80. FIXES ----- o None -------------- LDaemon v2.0.1 -------------- SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ---------------------- o The MDaemon.Schema LDAP configuration file must be updated with each new version of MDaemon. Failing to properly do this has caused several problems for sites that make extensive use of LDAP. From now on, the MDaemon installer will always place the most recent MDaemon.Schema file in the \APP\ directory. The LDaemon installer will find the MDaemon.Schema file and copy it from the MDaemon \APP\ directory and place it into the LDaemon install directory. MAJOR NEW FEATURES ------------------ o None CHANGES AND ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES ----------------------------------- o New OpenLDAP 2.0.27 engine installed. FIXES ----- o Many, many changes and fixes were made by updating the project from using OpenLDAP 2.0.13 to 2.0.27. ----------------------------- LDaemon v2.0.0 - July 1, 2002 ----------------------------- SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ---------------------- o The installer will setup WorldClient to use LDaemon as a global address book source by adding the following section to the AddrLookup.ini file within the WorldClient directory: [MDaemon Global Address Book] Formerly, the section created was called [MDaemon LDAP Address Book]. You are free to remove this older section from AddrLookup.ini with Notepad. MAJOR NEW FEATURES ------------------ * SCHEMA FOR MDAEMON/COMAGENT * A new schema has been added which allows LDaemon to be compatible with Alt-N ComAgent (part of the MDaemon/WorldClient v6.X suite of communications tools). For more information see: http://www.altn.com/ComAgent/ This new schema allows LDaemon to serve as a backend address book pro- vider for ComAgent - a global contact sharing application. * LOGGING SUPPORT ENABLED * LDaemon now supports logging. LDaemon will create a file called ..\Logs\LDaemon.log if you enable logging. To enable logging use -d xxx on the command line where xxx is the summ of one or more of the following: -1 enable all debugging 0 no debugging 1 trace function calls 2 debug packet handling 4 heavy trace debugging 8 connection management 16 print out packets sent and received 32 search filter processing 64 configuration file processing 128 access control list processing 256 stats log connections/operations/results 512 stats log entries sent 1024 print communication with shell backends 2048 print entry parsing debugging You may enable multiple levels by specifying the debug option once for each desired level. For example, "-d 65" or "-d 1 -d 64" enables the same two logging options (trace function calls and configuration file processing). The log file will not roll over or reset automatically. With some of these log settings the file can get very big very fast so watch out. If you are using MDaemon you can specify the debugging level within the MDaemon GUI by adding -d XXX to the LDaemon command line found in Setup | LDaemon/Address book options. One the LDaemon log file reaches the max size for log files specified within MDaemon it will rename the file to .OLD and start a new log file. CHANGES AND ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES ----------------------------------- o The installer was improved to better setup LDaemon to work with MDaemon and WorldClient. o LDaemon will create several .ldif files in its root directory. These should be preserved for future upgrades. o LDaemon will create several search-XXX.bat files. These search batch files allow quick searching of the LDAP DB for all users, MDaemonUsers, or MDaemonContacts types of entries. FIXES ----- o Many, many changes and fixes were made by updating the project from using OpenLDAP 2.0.11 to 2.0.23. o Many, many interoperability problems with MDaemon were found and fixed. -------------------------------- LDaemon v1.0.0 - Sept 25th, 2001 -------------------------------- SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ---------------------- o What is LDaemon? LDaemon is an LDAPv3 server based on open source technology. It is designed to run as a Windows 2000 system service and provide full LDAP server functionality for MDaemon customers. o What is the purpose of LDaemon? The purpose of LDaemon is to create an LDAPv3 platform for use as both a shared database backend for a network of MDaemon servers and also as a simple address book provider for LDAP capable email clients. o Where is LDaemon headed? In the future, the capabilities of LDaemon will be increased to better manage MDaemon account information and better serve as an address book provider for MDaemon networks. o What can LDaemon do for me? MDaemon can be configured to use an LDAP server (LDaemon) to store its account database information. When so configured, a network of MDaemons each using the same LDaemon server can be created in order to distribute the workload while sharing user database information. Also, LDAP tools can be used across a network to create and manage MDaemon email accounts. LDaemon can be used as a simple address book provider for email clients which support LDAP lookups. MDaemon will publish and maintain its internal addresses automatically by transacting data directly with LDaemon. When you perform an LDAP search with your email client you will have access to an up to date list of accounts for your local address book within your mail client. o For Outlook/Outlook Express (Microsoft) to search the LDAP database you must set the search base for the LDAP directory service to match your 'Base Entry DN'. This information can be found in MDaemon under LDAP/Address Book options. MAJOR NEW FEATURES ------------------ * FULL LDAPv3 SUPPORT * LDaemon is a fully capable LDAPv3 server. * COMPLETE SUITE OF COMMAND LINE TOOLS * LDaemon ships with a complete set of standard LDAP command line tools. * COMPLETE MDAEMON INTEGRATION * LDaemon is intended to run perfectly with MDaemon. The two products are able to communicate natively and share and manage account data. The LDaemon installer is designed to take the complexity out of setting up an LDAP server. * RUNS AS A BACKGROUND SERVICE * Runs behind the scenes as a background service. CHANGES AND ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES ----------------------------------- o none (initial release) FIXES ----- o none (initial release) NOTES ----- o For more information on open source LDAP and how to setup and use LDAP servers visit http://www.OpenLDAP.org -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
