  INTRODUCTION
  ------------

tinyproxy 1.5.2rc1 includes a bunch of cosmetic changes, and a few
changes to fix some long standing problems (which should have worked
in the first place.) However, the biggest code change is that the
tunnelling support in tinyproxy has been removed. tinyproxy is meant
to be an HTTP proxy server, and as such it should not try to be a TCP
tunnel as well.

The other "big" change is that the logging system works properly now.
There should be no lost logs at program start up, and the logs should
also be in the correct order. Also, log files are again truncated
when tinyproxy received a SIGHUP signal. This should, hopefully, solve
the permission problems some people experienced.

  CHANGES
  -------

Below are a summary of the changes made since 1.5.1. Please see the
ChangeLog for complete details.

 * Log files are truncated when tinyproxy is signalled to rotate the
log files. If you want a copy of the log file, make sure you copy
it _before_ sending tinyproxy a HUP signal.

 * The start up log messages are now outputted correctly. This
eliminates the lost log message problem. Also, the messages are
now written in the correct order.

 * Fixed a problem in the relay portion of tinyproxy. tinyproxy would
try to send any remaining information to the wrong socket. I'm not
sure why this bug wasn't spotted sooner, since it's been there
   since at least version 1.4.

 * Remove the TCP tunnelling code. tinyproxy is an HTTP proxy and
should not be trying to be a TCP tunnel as well.

 FUTURE
 ------

Here is a list of improvements slated for the next tinyproxy release:

 * Remove the HTML from within tinyproxy and move it into an external
   file.

 * Improve the security of the "Via" header to include support for
   data hiding.

 * Improve the shared memory implementation (maybe using the MM
   library.)

  CONCLUSION
  ----------

tinyproxy is shaping up to be a very useful little tool. There are
still long term goals relating to making tinyproxy a completely
HTTP/1.1 standards compliant proxy. Anyone with ideas or patches for
tinyproxy should submit them to the tinyproxy-users mailing list at:

	tinyproxy-users@lists.sourceforge.net

or see the project's page at:

	http://tinyproxy.sourceforge.net/
        http://sourceforge.net/projects/tinyproxy/

Thanks again to all those who have helped to make tinyproxy a more
useful utility.
